Time for Matt Mitchell?

UK classic rockers MATT MITCHELL & THE COLDHEARTS have released a animation music video for their fourth single ‘Don't You Think It's Time‘, the track is taken from the sophomore album ‘Mission‘, which will be out on July 29th, 2022. The song relates to bereavement and the affects of such loss. MATT MITCHELL is the former singer of PRIDE, FURYON and COLOUR OF NOISE. The YouTube video can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/btwkwf1Bmug

Animation video created by Tom Heron. Track Produced by Matt Mitchell & Mark Alberici. Mixed by Adrian Hall and Mastered by JP Braddock Formation Audio.

‘Mission’ is available to pre-order on signed CD, limited colour vinyl and as part of exclusive merch bundles – pre-order your copy at https://earache.com/mattmitchell

This Limited Transparent Blue Vinyl is something special and infact the very first Vinyl release for The Coldhearts. The artwork that runs throughout the album and singles was inspired by The Arctic Tern Migration (Mission).

‘The premium example of a modern classic rock singer’ (Planet Rock)

MISSION - As the World went into lockdown, Musicians took to playing shows online and embracing the new style of stage. Some took that time to reset whilst others wrote and recorded new material. That is exactly what Mitchell did. Demoing at his home in Sussex England and perhaps with more time than ever imagined to do so, he carved out the songs for what would be the difficult second album titled ‘Mission’.

The album was inspired by these times and the leading single inspiration was taken from the immense migration journey that the Arctic Tern birds embark on each year. A reflection of what a journey ( Mission ) we can sometimes face in our own lives and the story really influenced Mitchell’s album plan. The theme also runs through the fantastic album artwork designed by Tom Heron.

MATT MITCHELL has been the voice of AOR band Pride, Heavy Rock band Furyon and Blues Rock band Colour Of Noise. Sophomore album “Mission” sees Mitchell work alongside Earache Distribution for the first time and is released on July 29th 2022.

Incoming! Toxic

The story of Remains of Destruction goes back to the year 2019 when Jesse Yrjölä decided to start a new band. His embryonic idea was to release his new and upcoming tracks with a new group.

At first, Jesse asked his friend Timo Pelkonen to join his new band. They had already known each other for years working together in the same band.

Together they started to create new material and made demos of new songs. At this point, the name Remains of Destruction was also born. When the first demos were made Jesse asked another familiar guy, drummer Janne Ollikainen to join in as the drummer.

This trio released their first single ”Silvery Fields'' during 2020. While releasing a couple more singles during 2021, it could be noticed that the band's music is very versatile, heavy and melodic with symphonic elements. With their songs, R.O.D tells stories about shocking cases of¨modern world and reflects those to post-apocalyptic parallel universe. There have been various well-known themes of the present day in lyrics like Ukrainian war, Covid-19, Afghanistan, deprivation and abundance etc.

During the year 2021 the band got a new member when guitar player Saalas Ruokangas joined in. He has also given his stake as a songwriter for the band. Later that year, R.O.D recruited Osmo Lassila as a keyboard player. With this group R.O.D continued working with new songs for their upcoming debut album.

Bass player Jaakko Saloranta started to take care of the low frequencies in the beginning of 2022 and with that the band had completed their line up. After working really hard for months R.O.D completed their upcoming debut album.

”New Dawn” will see the daylight on 28th of May 2022. In camp R.O.D, everyone are more than excited about the upcoming album release and are looking forward to play shows. They have a strong faith towards themselves as a band and every member has a strong background from music and high skills of their instruments. R.O.D gives their everything for the image and guarantees great live performance.

Track list:
1 · Blood Moon
2 · Final Light

Soulfly reissue albums as box set

Soulfly are to re-issue their music as a box set.

Driven by Max Cavalera's unrelenting energy, unmistakable growl, and instantly recognizable riffage, the earthy tones and motivational rhythmic bounce of Soulfly maintain a gritty spiritual heart while pushing the boundaries of what's possible in metal. Nowhere is that more apparent than on the four triumphant, redemptive, and crucial eclectic offerings presented in this brand new box set, celebrating the first six years of the band career.

Soulfly (1998) was a riotously heavy escalation of the innovation established on Max's final album with Sepultura, launching a brand-new era. Primitive (2000) and 3 (2002) stomp with tribal groove; Prophecy (2004) is as unsettling but evocative as the tombs of the martyrs across Europe. Max introduced metalheads to the berimbau. He popularized varieties of camouflage and brought football chants to metal shows, while attacking his guitar on the bridge and unleashing classic after classic with Sepultura, Nailbomb, Soulfly, and Cavalera Conspiracy. His music is brutal yet unapologetically transcendent punk-infused extremity. To commune with the burning muse of metal's shamanistic tribal leader is to envelop oneself inside a post-modern sonic sweat lodge. Brutal riffs, trippy esoteric ritual, unrelenting percussion, primal screams; no matter what Cavalera hammers out on his four-string guitar, it always sets souls free.

No one doubts Max Cavalera's commitment to the subculture cause. He sold millions of albums yet walks freely amongst the crustiest of gutter punks with unquestionable credibility. He is one part renegade spiritual guide to the metal community, stretching from the roughest slums of South America to the coldest confines of Siberia, and all-parts old-school headbanger. Max is also a growling savage, cultural revolutionary, unpretentious innovator, American and Brazilian football fanatic, caffeinated soda guzzler, lyrical terrorizer, devoted husband, family man, riff-master, black metal loving, God-fearing, beloved spirit animal to all metal fans.

The Soul Remains Insane’ is a deluxe collection of the first four studio albums by Soulfly and also contains a bonus album of singles, b-sides, rare cuts and a couple of previously unreleased songs. Also included is a book telling the story of these seminal records through new interviews with Max Cavalera which contains many previously unseen photos from the era. The box set will be available as a 5 album, 8LP vinyl box and 5CD box.

Live review: Willie and the Bandits. Robin2, Bilston, 7 April 2022

Wille and the Bandits steal the show....!

The Robin2 has played host to the band before and they rocked the place then and REALLY rocked it tonight!

Openining tonight was acoustic guitarist/vocalist Mike West who was nothing if not enthusatic and keen to win the audience over. He did with his catchy (if a tad repetitive) songs that ranged from modern country to Americana folk music. It's always tough to play an acoustic gig and credit to Mike for choosing this way of performing. His songs are well written if a little generic and he plays that acoustic guitar like the strings are made of iron not steel. Fuck knows how they didn't break under that punishment. His vocal cords took some punishment too as he sang in a loud, gruff, tone. Passionate and forceful but a little too full on for the songs he was singing. It was almost as though he was trying to emulate an acoustic Zakk Whylde. Yup, that sound. Didn't really work for him. Perhaps a softer tone would be better Mike? (4/10)

With the crowd warmed up, it was Willie & The Bandits' time to show Bilston the way they rock.
In the 3 years since we last saw them they have grown incredibly in terms of musicality, confidence and performance ability. They now play, move and perform with the confidence of a live seasoned band as they played songs old and new from previous albums to the new "When The World Stood Still". Each song was performed perfectly. No fuck-ups, no hesistation and a decent sound from the venue.
All the songs we know and love were there including the epic renditions, slide gloriousness, pure rock n rollers and ballads. There's something for everyone at a WATB show.

The longer songs really show off the abilities of frontman and lead guitarist Willie Edwards. He plays guitar and slide with a level of technicality that makes it look easy. Trust me, it ain't!

The rockers saw the band really let loose and show they can rock as hard as any of their peers. Again, the band's confidence makes them very entertaining to watch. The band are tight and always musical.

Roll on the next time we see Willie and The Bandits! 9/10 CAG & AS

Check em ou! The Virginmarys

The Virginmarys are a brotherhood of raw power, huge riffs and seamless  musicianship between drummer Danny Dolan and guitarist/vocalist Ally Dickaty. They are among the most authentic and widely respected rock bands of their time,  having stuck to their own blend of explosive ‘heart on sleeve’ rock’n’roll from the off. The band have played with Queens Of The Stoneage, been championed by Slash  and collaborated on stage with Frank Turner which goes a little way in highlighting  the diverse appeal of their music.

Having released 3 critically acclaimed albums playing as a trio, Danny and Ally  decided to take on the next phase as a power duo and powerful it certainly is.

Exploding onto the rock scene with their debut album 'King of Conflict', which hit #3  on the Billboard New Artist Alternative Chart and #8 on the

Billboard Heatseekers Chart, The Virginmarys (Macclesfield, UK) were dubbed the  buzz band of SXSW.

They received major support from US Active Rock and Alternative radio, press  acclaim from Rolling Stone, Alternative Press and USA Today.

The band followed up with their second album Divides, which was hailed by Apple  Music, Spotify, Yahoo! Music, and took the band to the main stage of Leeds and  Reading Festival.

The Virginmarys are on tour in the UK throughout March and release their highly  anticipated first single ‘The Meds’ March 18th.
