The music video depicts SOKOJO playing in a World War II bunker alongside the story of the main character eventually confronting her about wanting more from his love than a partial split.

LIVE SHOW ANNOUNCEMENT :

SOKOJO will play a live show at The Mint in Los Angeles on February 18, 2021

along with Yard Of Blondes and Iron Point.

ABOUT SOKOJO :

« Sokojo has a sense of rock and roll attitude that is often missing in this style of music nowadays (...)  Sokojo is heading for the big time » - Jane Howkins, York Calling

Fusing the power and attitude of hard rock with danceable rhythms and precise hooks of indie music, SOKOJO is the new rising alternative/hard-rock band in Los Angeles, California.

Founded in 2018, SOKOJO is composed of Kris Soekotjo (lead vocal/guitar), Kyle Soekotjo (guitar/vocals), Sabastian Neudeck (drums) and Jeff Lane (bass/vocals).

Drawing influences from the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s rock scenes, yet honing an original sound that feels at home in the 2020s, SOKOJO’s songs hold meaningful messages, feel radio-ready, and have their unique set of fingerprints.

Noticed in 2019 by producer and guitarist Burak Yerebakan, through the wall separating their rehearsing rooms, he offered SOKOJO to play at the infamous Viper Room for the first time, opening for his band Yard Of Blondes (“Murderology”, “Do You Need More”, “Hummingbird”).

Then followed a string of dates for SOKOJO, opening for Jason Newsted of Metallica.

For the next two years, SOKOJO made a name for themselves playing live, from the Sunset Strip to backyard parties, gritty Oakland dive bar Stork Club, and storied LA clubs such as The Mint, Molly Malone’s, State Social House, etc.

When the COVID-19 crisis wiped out a planned summer 2020, the band turned its focus to the studio, booking sessions with Grammy-nominated engineer Zach Fisher at LA mega-studio Big Bad Sound (Weezer, Rancid, LA Guns), and producer Burak Yerebakan’s studio The Wakeful Room to start recording their debut EP, “MORE”.

The band released the EP’s eponymous first single, “More”, in May 2021. A riffy stomper about a toxic mix of drug problems and trust issues in a crumbling relationship, the song turns a classic rock motif on its head: it’s not about love as a drug, it’s about drugs as a love.

The second single, “Keeps Me Going”, released in July 2021, sets the band's bluesy riffing to a dancey punk beat and tells the story of a guy whose tank is empty on everything but silver linings. The release included the band’s first music video, which garnered 20,000+ Youtube views and found significant interest on popular Spotify playlists in the US and abroad.

The third single, “Something Real”, released in October 2021, is a hard-rock power ballad, in which the main character searches for a connection with people absorbed by the social mediums on their phone, entranced by the blue light which disconnects them from reality.

Alex Lifeson has a new project with brand new album

Alex Lifeson is no stranger to the concept of evolution. As a founding member of Rush, he’s been able to explore more musical ground than just about any other guitar player out there – taking rock to new progressive heights throughout the decades and always in the most wildly inventive of ways. His influence can be heard on countless bands around the world, from indie shoegaze and math rock to heavy metal and beyond. Over the last few years Lifeson has been focusing on a new project that, no matter how well-acquainted you are with his discography, will undoubtedly shatter all seeds of expectation and blow the mind. That project is Envy Of None.

The new band, also featuring Coney Hatch founder/bassist Andy Curran, accomplished producer and engineer Alfio Annibalini and singer-songwriter Maiah Wynne, will be releasing their self-titled debut album on April 8 via Kscope. Its 11 tracks – which ricochet between various shades of alternative, experimental and synth rock – throw surprises at every turn, twisting dark melodies against contemporary pop hooks. Lifeson himself is proudly aware of how little of it crosses over with the band that made him famous.

However, it was only when singer Maiah Wynne became involved that this truly started to feel like a band destined to go somewhere. Her haunting melodies and soul-baring intensity is – by the admission of her own bandmates – what truly brought this music to life. All things considered; she is a star in the making… “I sent over an early version of the song Shadow,” explains Andy Curran. “When I played what she’d done back to the others they were like, ‘Who is this crazy talented person?!’”

The album’s first single, Liar, is out now. Its industrial beats, driving fuzz bass and atmospheric guitars concoct a seductive swirl indeed – thrilling in ways closer to the darker art rock of Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails and A Perfect Circle than anything these musicians have been known for prior.

“Maiah became my muse,” continues Alex Lifeson. “She was able to bring this whole new ethereal thing through her sense of melody on tracks like Liar and Look Inside. After hearing her vocals on Never Said I Love You, I felt so excited. I’ve never had that kind of inspiration working with another musician. When we say she’s special, it’s because she’s really fucking special!”

“One of my favourite things about these songs is the intimacy of them,” reveals Maiah Wynne. “It makes them feel different and more honest. There are some heavier songs too, like Enemy, and then tracks like Kabul Blues, that sound completely different to anything else.”

The album closer, Western Sunset, which was penned by Alex Lifeson in tribute to his dear friend Neil Peart. It’s a highly emotive piece of music to honour a man deeply missed by the rock community at large, and even more so by those who were lucky enough to know him. “I visited Neil when he was ill,” says Alex Lifeson. “I was on his balcony watching the sunset and found inspiration. There’s a finality about a sunset that kinda stayed with me throughout the whole process. It had meaning. It was the perfect mood to decompress after all these different textures… a nice way to close the book.”

It’s a book you’ll almost certainly want to be reading.  Envy Of None’s self-titled album is due for release on April 8 via Kscope.

Cult of Luna drop new album

Sweden‘s prolific post-metal band Cult of Luna have revealed their expansive new single “Into the Night” off their forthcoming album, The Long Road North. The record is one of their most beautiful and dynamic works to date which is palpably heard on the latest single. Guitarist and vocalist Fredrik Kihlberg explains, “’Into the Night‘ is about the search for something or someone that‘s been lost. It's about being in the state between conscious and unconscious, awake and dreaming. Seeing, hearing and experiencing things and not knowing if it's real or imagination."

For over two decades Cult of Luna have forged a sound incomparable to others - ambitious, epic, visceral, and drenched in emotion. The Long Road North marks as a follow-up to last year‘s The Raging River EP. As is the case with every album from the band in recent years, there is a lot of shifting of dynamics and sonic density, and perhaps more so than usual on The Long Road North. "It's a big and cinematic sounding album. I think one of the reasons why we have been able to be so productive the last couple of years is that we have been consistently writing from the heart. We have let our instincts guide us, and I think it's getting clearer where we are heading," reveals vocalist/guitarist Johannes Persson, who has been one of the primary driving forces behind the band since their inception.

Persson continues, “The long road north is a long road home. A direction dictated by a call that penetrates rock and echoes through the forest. It flows over every lake, accelerated by the wind. When it reaches you, you know it’s time. Time to move forward. You don’t know where it will lead but you put the trust in it. With eyes raised towards the midnight sun it pulls you closer. The road is long and the end is uncertain.”

Recognized for their apocalyptic live performances that unrestrainedly explore the audience's imagination, Cult of Luna will bring their stunning live show to fans just in time as The Long Road North hits shelves worldwide. Currently they are confirmed to tour UK and EU next Spring with Alcest, Caspian and Holy Fawn - North American dates to follow. Infirmum drop new EP

Incoming! The Damn Truth

The Damn Truth – the critically acclaimed Montreal-based four-piece rock band, have announced they will release “Only Love” – their captivating new single on Friday January 14th.  The single is accompanied with a colourful and innovative music video.

Produced by legendary record producer Bob Rock (Metallica, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, The Cult, Bryan Adams), “Only Love” is the third single taken from the band’s third studio album “Now or Nowhere.”

The single and album are available from www.Linktr.ee/thedamntruth

Says TDT’s lead singer Lee-La Baum, “The lyric, only love can keep us going, serves as a reminder that things during the pandemic are challenging, and hardships are everywhere, but if every day has a new morning and we consider every morning a new beginning, then why shouldn't love guide it?”

“When Bob first heard Only Love on the first day at The Warehouse (Bryan Adams' studio in Vancouver, Canada), he liked it right away but wanted us to try to speed up the tempo. Only Love started out as our only ballad on the record, but Bob had a slightly different vision. He basically sent us into the studio, and said: ‘Just give it a try, don't think, just play it. We'll know right away if there's something there’.”

Continues Lee-La, “We played the song at almost double the speed, it felt rushed and awkward, but after laying down the take, we filed into the control room and listened back. It was undeniable. There seemed to be magic to it now.”

The Damn Truth embark on a 13-date UK tour kicking off at the York Grand Opera House on February 10th and finishing at Southampton the 1865 on February 25th.

In addition to the Damn Truth supporting King King on various dates in February 2022, the band will also headline their own shows including Leek Foxlowe Arts (Feb 13), Leeds Lending Room (Feb 15), Bristol Exchange (Feb 16), and Southampton The 1865 (Feb 25).

“Touring the UK will make us the happiest, most excited creatures,” says the band. “The four of us are meant to be on the road, together, for life. That's where we thrive, where we are whole. Nothing compares to life on the road and if we can just make it over there, we can begin to live and love again.”

Tickets are available from www.thegigcartel.com/Artists-profiles/The-Damn-Truth.htm.

The tour follows the May 7th release of The Damn Truth’s third studio album "Now or Nowhere" released by Spectra Musique/Sony Music.  The album, produced by legendary Grammy Award winning record producer, Bob Rock, is available from www.thedamntruth.com.

The first single from the album, This Is Who We Are Now, took flight in the UK with twelve weeks of airplay on Planet Rock and a spot play on BBC Radio 2’s Rock Show with Johnnie Walker.  The single also won Classic Rock’s Tracks of the Week an unprecedented two times.

The band have also been championed by the British music press with extensive magazine coverage in Classic Rock, Blues Matters, Guitarist, Powerplay, Guitar Techniques, Record Collector, Fireworks, Blues in Britain, Hard Rock Hell, MNPR and R’N’R Magazine.

“We’re looking forward to touring the UK,” says lead singer and guitarist, Lee-la Baum. “Last time we played the UK was a one-night banger in London that left us wanting for more. We cannot wait to come back and hit the road in the UK.”

The Damn Truth is comprised of PY Letellier (bass), Dave Traina (drums) Lee-La Baum (lead vocals, guitar), and Tom Shemer (guitar).

“The Damn Truth are a fresh revivalism of the psyche music scene from the mid 60’s,” says Jeff Laufer, editor of the Californian blog, Rock Bands of LA. “Critics and fans alike praise the regeneration of their hard rock sound and values.” “Bob Rock found a spirit within the band that he hadn’t experienced for many years,” continues Jeff. “He saw something special… a band with burning talent that needed the right direction to break wide open…like lightning in a bottle.”

Six tracks on the new album "Now or Nowhere" were produced by Grammy Award winning Bob Rock (Metallica, Aerosmith, Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams, The Cult, The Offspring) at Bryan Adams’ recording studio The Warehouse in Vancouver.

"Now or Nowhere" chronicles the band as they navigate life, love, and everything else in a world gone seemingly upside down and sideways during the past year.  The band were unable to finish the album with Bob because of COVID-19 restrictions. They recorded the remaining three songs themselves, with help from Juno Award-winning producer Jean Massicotte who mixed "Everything Fades". The rest of the mixes were done by Vance Powell (Jack White, Chris Stapleton), Nick DiDia (Bruce Springsteen, Rage Against The Machine), and Mike Plotnikoff (Van Halen, Cranberries).

The Damn Truth have toured Europe and North America and opened shows for ZZ Top (and partied with Billy Gibbons in his pyjamas), the SheepdogsStyx, and Rival Sons.

They sold out the Whisky a Go-Go in L.A., and the Corona Theatre in their hometown of Montreal, and had one of their videos featured on the official Janis Joplin Facebook page. It's a culmination of a lot of blood, sweat and tears that’s come to fruition with "Now or Nowhere".

For the past nine years, The Damn Truth have been slowly bubbling up from the underground on to the radar to a wider audience. Now, with their latest single "Tomorrow", the forward-thinking, peace-loving Montreal rock and roll quartet are ready to conquer the world.
