Scottish extreme metal group Tyrannus presents the demo, It Taketh, which originally came digitally on 25 June 2021, and later got released on cassettes via Born Too Late Tapes on 27 July 2021. Formed in 2018 by Callum John Cant and Alasdair Dunn, Tyrannus concurrently brings forth ruination and obliviousness. In 2019, soon after the formation, the Scottish duo unleashed the self-titled EP, which mostly dwells in the dominion fierce black/death metal, conjuring an agile speed/thrash metal vivacity. While the first EP is very much an example of Tyrannus figuring out their sound but perhaps not being committed enough to an approach yet, the latest demo release, It Taketh, ushered in the new dawn as the band finally untangled their songcrafting approaches and tracked down their fully-realized vision. The songs on the demo can perhaps be labeled as “psychedelic thrashy black/death metal,” due to the erratic appearances of eerie, demoniacal synth passages. Although the psychedelic atmosphere inflicts an atypical experience on this escapade, the calamitous, barbaric blackened death metal is still the spine of this three-track demo release. Tyrannus has recently expanded the lineup by adding Alistair Harley on bass. He will be featured on the debut full-length, which is currently in process. States the band: “The ‘It Taketh’ demo is meant to be a taster of more to come from Tyrannus — an album which takes varied influences and warps them into a concept and a story with themes of Lovecraftian horror and antifascism. We want people to listen to this demo and to be as excited as we are for what's next to come from us. We firmly believe in the music we have written and are looking forward to finally sharing our fully realized vision.”

ROX Network interviews Hellz from Hells Abyss
ROX Network Interview

Hellz
Hellz Abyss
Our own Roxie caught up with Lisa Perry A.K.A. Hellz. The Hellz in HellzAbyss. An Australian hard rock band that is bringing its angry, pissed-off and catchy rock to the UK next year!
Formed in 2019 and based in Australia, you will find members located along the east coast between Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. Hellz, the original name of Hellz Abyss was the brainchild of lead singer Lisa Perry and her former axe man Jeff Young of Megadeth fame. After their partnership dissolved, Lisa decided to continue as a solo artist under the very same name of Hellz. It was then in 2019 that Lisa met and welcomed former Screaming Jets drummer Mark McLeod to the band who is arguably one of the top technical drummers Australia has to offer. In 2020 Lisa and Mark welcomed bassist Mick Jones into the fold. From here, finding a lead guitarist was a bit hit and miss for a while, but soon found the talents of Dean Fistlord, where it was evident that he was the perfect fit for the band. In 2020 Lisa met Daryl Holden, who at the time had his own project called The Abyss, and after finding the perfect common ground together as songwriters, decided to join forces calling themselves Hellz and The Abyss, which later evolved into Hellz Abyss.Hellz Abyss is Australia's powerhouse Hard Rock group led by the Venomous Hellz (aka Lisa Perry). The combination of the collaborative talent of producer Daryl Holden and Lisa Perry and the brilliant live performance of the members of Hellz Abyss on stage the energy and presence is explosive.
Each song takes listeners on a journey of the self discovery of not giving a F*** . This full-on rock and metal beast is a massive statement of empowerment and sheer force that both uplifts and inspires audiences worldwide, a rallying call to us all to live our lives as we want to. Hellz Abyss are managed by Established Global Artist Management company Distilled Entertainment , USA. Distilled artists have perform alongside Soulfly , Metallica , Slayer , KORN Slipknot , Lamb of God , Rob Zombie , POD Disturbed , Five Finger Death Punch , Machine Head , Hatebreed , Atreyu , and All That Remains to name a few!. Distilled artists also play major traveling festivals including Rockstar Mayhem Festival, Ozzfest, Jägermeister Music Tour, Vans Warped Tour, Rockstar Mayhem Uproar, and Aftershock
Festival. Hellz Abyss are official Artists on the International Women Of Rock Tour with Global Unity Tours and will be touring Europe and the UK in June 2022. Despite the crushing power of the guitars, the city flattening heft of the drums and bass and Hellz incredible vocals that are part siren, part banshee, it’s not all just a trip in the passenger seat of a nitro fuelled street racer.

Scarlet Rebels new album
Welsh rock band Scarlet Rebels have released their high-octane new single ‘Take You Home’, the latest track to be taken from forthcoming album 'See Through Blue' out January 28th 2022 via Earache Records.
Crammed full of razor-sharp riffs, furious licks and an infectious swagger, ‘Take You Home’ is a no holds barred bout of vigorous rock’n’roll designed to take you right back to its spiritual home. Written as a tribute to performing live the track arrives at the perfect time, with the UK now in a place where gigs and shows are able to go ahead in the unrestricted and cathartic way they were designed to. This song belongs on a stage, and Scarlet Rebels want to take you there with them.
Speaking about the single, frontman Wayne Doyle stated, “There isn’t anything in the world that can replicate the safe haven music provides. This song is for the people that live their lives for that one moment where a chord change feels like it could change the world. This is an ode to the power music holds in uniting us all – ‘for those who feel alone, raise your hands and we’ll take you home’.”
‘Take You Home’ follows the release of the politically charged first single ‘Storm’, a fiery track that takes very clear aim at the political ruling class and its high level malfeasance. Both are taken from their upcoming album 'See Through Blue', which will be released on January 28th 2022 via 'See Through Blue'. Pre-orders of the album, including signed editions, limited edition colour vinyl (red/green/purple) plus a rare ‘alternative artwork’ version with blue cover are all available here while stocks last.
Scarlet Rebel’s sound is as broad as their ambition. The five-piece fuse the rocket-powered energy of classic hard rock bands such as Guns N’ Roses and Aerosmith with the vital modern edge of alt-rock giants like the Foo Fighters, all the while mining the same seam of timeless, vivid songwriting as Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen.
With their proud socialist beliefs, born of their South Wales roots, and unafraid to point out the rank hypocrisy, corruption and incompetence of our current government, they rage against the terrible damage the political right have done to the social fabric of the UK with their xenophobic, hard Brexit agenda and mishandling of the pandemic.
“I don’t expect everybody to agree with me, but these are things that have happened, they’re facts. If people don’t want to listen, that’s tough,” says Doyle. “But the artists I grew up with talked about real issues, about what was going on, regardless of what people thought of them. We could have made an album full of sex, drugs and rock’n’roll, but we wanted something real.”
And so, with the appropriately-named 'See Through Blue', the band’s second album, Scarlet Rebels are firmly nailing their colours to the mast, with artwork featuring a blond-haired demagogue preaching evil to the masses. However their politics are backed up by a potent collection of gigantic rock songs armed to the teeth with razor sharp solos and soaring singalongs, marrying arena-sized modern anthems with classic songwriting and an inextinguishable passion.
It’s loud and proud on the piercing new single ‘Take You Home’, demonstrating why the five-piece – completed by lead guitarist Chris Jones, second guitarist/keyboard player Josh Townshend, bassist Wayne ‘Pricey’ Esmonde and the frontman’s brother, drummer Gary Doyle – are fast becoming one of the most exciting prospects in British rock. And their upcoming tour with Buckcherry will be one of the hottest tours this winter.
It’s no exaggeration to claim that Scarlet Rebels are exactly what rock’n’roll needs right now.

Rev Jones goes solo
Rev Jones announces his new solo album 'In The Key of Z' to be released worldwide on Dark Star Records on October 1st. Physical pre-orders are underway and digital pre-orders being on September 24th.
Pre-order the physical release: Here
“If I had my way, I’d probably put a bass solo on every song,” Rev Jones says of 'In The Key Of Z', “but that’s not what this album is about. I want people to hear it and be surprised.” For Jones – the bassist/vocalist famed for his two-handed tapping style and over-the-neck fingering technique whom BassPlayer.com says “has infused some of the biggest names in hard rock with his incredible energy and musicality” – 'In The Key Of Z' on Dark Star Records delivers an always- surprising salvo of the crushing riffs, smart songwriting, twisted sense of humor and face-melting, ass-kicking sonic boom that is Rev Jones.
“Once again my partner in crime Rev Jones proves he is different from the rest … not only in his writing and bass play, but his off the hook vocals. Crazy great range, but most of all, his insanely different melody lines that push the envelope of what you can get away with in a great song. Playing drums on this is like breathing air for me and fits like a glove …. Hopefully a boxing glove.” -- Jeff Martin, Drummer
"We are very excited to have a musician like Rev Jones of such a high caliber on the Dark Star Records roster, who has performed and recorded with a ton of platinum selling artists and is just such an amazing bass player and singer" -- Jeffrey A. Swanson/ President / Dark Star Records
In addition to producing 'In The Key Of Z' – the follow-up to his 2018 solo debut 'Bakwash' – at his home studio in Oklahoma and writing or co-writing all 12 tracks, Jones also played bass, guitar, double bass, keyboards, mandolin, ukulele and tambourine. The songs themselves represent Rev’s distinctive takes on thrash and metal, as well as a few unexpected yet way-cool forays into country and folk. “Most performers are trying to be too serious or cautious,” says the skull-tatted wildman, who’s recorded and toured with Steelheart, Leslie West & Mountain, Michael Schenker Group, Fuel, Paul Gilbert, George Lynch and his own Rev Jones Band among many others. “But I’ve never allowed myself to be pigeonholed as a performer. My favorite album of all time is still Night at the Opera by Queen. Great music should always sound fearless.”
And whether it’s the smart-ass ferocity of 'Lollygaggin' (based on a favorite line of dialogue from Blazing Saddles) or the monster-riff veracity of the title track, every cut on 'In The Key Of Z' – mixed by Shawn Berman, known for his work with Guns N’ Roses, Danzig and George Thorogood & The Destroyers – rocks with the creative confidence of a 30+ year musician still finding joy in plugging in, turning up and blasting off in any direction he pleases. “It’s all rock as far as I’m concerned,” Rev says. “Even where the songs have a folk or country feel, the guitars are heavy. The bass, mandolin and ukulele feel heavy, too. The goal was for it all to sound to like me.”
When it came to individual guitar solos, Rev reached out to famous friends that include Uros Raskovski (Steelheart), Ira Black (Metal Church, Lizzy Borden), Jack Frost(Savatage), Russ Parish (Steel Panther), Bill Leverty (Firehouse), Jim Suhler(Monkey Beat), Robby Lochner (Fight, Jack Russell’s Great White), Rowan Robertson(Dio, Bang Tango), Paige Harwell (Reckless) and Scott McClellan(Tony Martin), as well Michael T. Ross(Lita Ford, Hardline) on keyboards and Jeff Martin (Dokken, Racer X) on drums. “I matched the players with the songs on paper,” Jones says, “then picked up the phone and started making calls.”
For Rev Jones and his fans, the album stands as an in-your-face ode to artistic integrity, musical intensity and a natural instinct for what makes rock both dangerous and fun. “For me, this project is one big realization,” Rev says of In The Key Of Z. “You can write these cool riffs. You can embrace different styles of music. You can invite your friends to be a part of it. And if you stay true to yourself and play what’s good, people will respond.”
REV has recorded with:
Steelheart, Michael Schenker Group, Leslie West, Black Symphony, Paul Gilbert, Jeff Martin, James Kottak, George Lynch, Kottak, Steve Moore (drummer at wrong gig), Forte, Jack Frost, Rev Jones Band, China Blue, Siva Addiction, Blasted To Static, Scott Mcclellan, Legioned Marcher. He has also recorded sessions with award winning producers Jim Gaines, David Prater, and Mike Goldberg.
