Assignment return
The prog metal outfit ASSIGNMENT is back with its new album "Reflections"!
As usual, the band follows its credo "metal without boundaries" and offers ten tracks with different
atmospheres and epic melodies. The album also introduces the band’s new drummer, Michael Kolar (exVictor Smolski's Almanac, Horsemen) as well as guest vocalist Inés Vera-Ortiz.
SONGS
"Trilogia Balkanica" and "Mercyful Angel" belong together and are dedicated to the remembrance and 20th
anniversary of the NATO bombings in Serbia. The NATO mission was sometimes also called "Merciful Angel"
- a rather cynical, sarcastic, and inhuman name for it. The song perfectly represents the hypocrisy of the
Western civilization, especially of the USA.
"Mercyful" in the song title is misspelled on purpose, and a little homage to the band Mercyful Fate.
"Corporate Men" tries to look behind human behavior in today’s business world – how far do you go to
achieve some kind of recognition, and financial advantage?
"Reflections", the album’s title track, takes a deeper look at the life of people like Panić’s father, who were
forced to leave their homes due to poverty and move to a different country to earn some money. People, who
just stayed for a couple of years, to save some money to live a better life in their home countries. People,
who are now old, still living in the country that does not feel like home while carrying their "real homes " in
their hearts.
"Endlessly" is about and the connection between a father and daughter, and the feelings and consequences
following the break-up of a family and how children suffer due to decisions that are and were not theirs to
make.
"Unknown Hero" and "Silent Nation" kind of pick up the story that ended on the album “Inside Of The
Machine”: The lyrics deal with the development of society and the critical point when things obviously go
wrong. And the will to sacrifice that is needed to change anything that would help most people – and this
sacrifice is, as history clearly shows, paid by blood

Following the announcement of the release of the re-recorded version of A Bit Of What You Fancy – to celebrate its 30th Anniversary – The Quireboys will embark on a special UK tour from December 2020 to February 2021, where they will play the classic album in its entirety.

Australian beer drinking rock n roll warriors MASSIVE, who are no strangers to the UK music scene, are returning as tour support for the Quireboys. The band are on the road promoting their 3rd studio album Rebuild Destroy out now through Off Yer Rocka Recordings.
The 13-date tour will kick off at the Bullingdon in Oxford on Thursday 10th December and will include dates in Bristol (11 Dec), Nottingham (13 Dec), Brighton (28 Jan), Birmingham (29 Jan), Leeds (4 Feb), Glasgow (5 Feb), Manchester (12 Feb) and Gateshead (13 Feb).
To mark the 30th Anniversary of A Bit Of What You Fancy, the Quireboys are currently re-recording their iconic debut album with their current Gypsy Rock & Roll sound. Released on Friday 1st July, the album will be available on vinyl and CD both on limited edition runs. The CD will include bonus live tracks.

Formed in Britain late 2006, DAMNATION ANGELS set out to create a new benchmark in symphonic metal.
The band began by releasing their debut e.p Shadow Symphony in 2009, receiving rave reviews from critics stating that the band are “the brightest spark to emerge upon the UK scene in a very long time” and are “comparable with mega acts such as Avantasia and Blind Guardian". Following the release the band struck a deal with Radtone Records (Japan) and released their debut album "Bringer Of Light" in Japan. A worldwide release followed in 2013 when the band struck a multi album deal with Massacre Records (Germany).
Bringer Of Light gained acclaim and topped Amazon charts worldwide, breaking into the top 100 downloads for all music in Germany. The success and reception of Bringer Of Light propelled the band to play outside of the UK for the very first time at the prestigious ProgPower USA Festival and a European tour with Andromeda.

The first single ‘I Will Not Fall’, which has been A-listed on Planet Rock, and will be available as an instant grat track with all pre-orders, plus exclusive content including track by track commentary by Alan Nimmo.
“Maverick” follows 2017’s critically acclaimed album “Exile & Grace” and includes the new line-up featuring Alan Nimmo (vocals/guitar), Stevie Nimmo (guitar), Jonny Dyke (organ/piano), Zander Greenshields (bass) and Andrew Scott (drums). The album was engineered and mixed by Liam McCluskey at Morsecode Studios in Glasgow.
Produced by Alan Nimmo, Jonny Dyke and Liam McCluskey at Morsecode Studios in Glasgow, the new album is co-written by Alan Nimmo (guitar, lead vocals), Zander Greenshields (bass), Jonny Dyke (keyboards), Andrew Scott (drums), with all lyrics co-written by Alan Nimmo and newest member Stevie Nimmo (guitar).
“Recording the new album with the new line-up has been a whole lot of fun and very interesting,” says Alan Nimmo. “It’s great watching the guys using the great talent they have bringing the songs to life.”
Most of the songs, bar one, were co-written by all the band members, while all arrangements were co-written by Alan and keyboardist Jonny Dyke. Says Alan, “I value contributions from all of the guys in the making of new music. Johnny and I found a great rhythm working together. We just got our heads down and made sure that the songs were arranged in the best way possible.”
King King have evolved as a band, and their fifth album, Maverick, is no exception. But what makes this new album different from all the previous King King albums? “Maverick is an album that I chose to write with complete freedom,” explains Alan. “Musically, it’s more mature and more complex than our previous records, but it also has the simplicity of an album that just has great catchy songs that people will want to sing along with. The essence of King King is still there and always will be. We hope the energy, fun and passion is evident throughout!”
But why call the new album Maverick? “I named the album Maverick at a time when it was risky to do so,” says Alan. “I made some bold moves and changes from band members to behind-the-scenes stuff. I guess that’s who I am. I’m a risk-taker!”

Album review: Rough Grind - Pieces of Resistance

It's hard to believe, but this is Rough Grind's first full album! The Finland four-piece have released a polished and very impressive album of 10 non-stop rockers that any well-established band would be proud of.
Describing themselves as "dark roasted rock", the band have created a hard-edged rock sound that fuses metal, rock, grunge and blues to great effect. From the fast paced metal fest of "Corporate God" to the album's straight-ahead rock n roller ending track of "Only Don't Fools Like Rock n Roll" (not sure if this was the right choice for the video as its a nice end song but doesn't show the band off as well) the band stretch their capable music muscles to produce a well-rounded and exceptionally catchy and rocking album. Never do they conform to modern production norms either. With lush effects and soundscapes and plenty of space in the mix this is well produced and professional.
The dual guitar sound of Ville and Arg works well and the vocals of Sami (who also plays bass) is distinctive and has a retro vibe to it which just hints at modern vocal techniques. Refreshing.
The standard song has to be "Corporate God" for me and there's only one song that is a little weaker than the others, third track "State of Play" which is a little off. Overall, this is an excellent debut album from a band that I'm sure will go far. Another feather in Finland's metal cap! 9/10 Roxy.
